Container Plant Care Guide

Watering Frequency

1

A good rule of thumb is every other day - though your sun exposure, climate, and container size will affect this. Containers dry out faster than in-ground plantings, so consistency matters.

Press a finger into the top layer of soil. Dry to the touch? Time to water. Still moist? Give it one more day.

Water Slowly & Thoroughly

2

When you do water, go slow. You want water running out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the container - that means it’s reached the roots. Think long and steady, not a quick splash.

Keep in mind, that if you let your containers dry out completely, they can become hydrophobic when you go to water next - meaning the water just runs off the soil and doesn’t actually soak through. Make sure that when this happens, you give your soil a few good soakings until the soil is consistently moist again.

Deadheading & Grooming

3

When you spot a bloom that looks spent, crinkled, or past its prime - just pluck it off. It keeps things looking fresh and encourages new growth.

Safety Note

4

Please don’t allow pets or humans to eat any flowers or plant material from your containers. Beautiful to look at, not for snacking.
